Patchouli comes from India where it is known as puchaput. Patchouli first got introduced to England and the rest of the world around 1820s, when it became fashionable to impregnate patchouli on Indian shawls along with its scent. It was also the perfume of the ‘flower power’ generation of the 1960’s.
Appealingly sensual, it has been known as an aphrodisiac since ancient times. Patchouli has a marked effect on tissue regeneration and is hence advised for problem skin and acne.
